Our Story
1982
The Beginning
Way back in 1982, one man had a vision of producing the very best home furniture that he could. ‘Harrison Furniture’ was established. The company was based in some odd-looking farm outbuildings – a very modest start. The joiners would spend their lunchtimes and some afternoons helping with general farm duties – this was especially true in the lambing season!
1985-1995
Popular Pine
Harrison Furniture grew from strength to strength, so much so that they could not keep up with demand. Pine furniture was very popular, Welsh Dressers, Farmhouse Tables, Bedside Cabinets and Chest of Drawers were the items on most peoples' shopping list. Everyone wanted the Briwax finish. Not even a thought of making kitchens at this stage.
1995 Onwards
Kitchens are Us!
So it wasn’t until 2005 that Harrison Furniture took the first tentative steps in producing fitted kitchens. It was a logical extension of the pine furniture market – why not have a kitchen made in the same way? Not a problem for the experienced joiners – they would adapt very easily. Coupled with a move to new premises, things were looking up.
1996
Goodbye Mr Harrison
Harrison Furniture was doing well, kitchens were a great line to have and the name was well known. However, it was decided in the summer of 2006 that Mr Harrison would take early retirement and spend time on his beloved narrow boat. Enter the new partnership of a driven property developer and his design team headed up by his wife – Willowbrook Kitchens was duly formed.
1996-2014
The Willowbrook Years
The great thing about transferring ownership is that Willowbrook Kitchens kept the same joiners and cabinetmakers on the payroll. This would prove crucial as the company became re-established. The first year was tough but soon the orders were coming in. New design and construction techniques were adopted and the standard of the finished product was outstanding. Extra staff were employed to keep up with demand. Willowbrook Kitchens were getting well known and even featured in glossy home magazines and on BBC make over shows.
2014
Retirement Beckons
After 18 very successful years, the family partnership that was Willowbrook Kitchens decided that they needed a new venture to pursue. In early 2014 the partners took early retirement and closed the business. Could this be an excellent opportunity for someone?
The contents of the workshop were sold to one of the previous employees – having worked for them for 16 years it was too good a chance to resist. A new company was formed – Willowbrook Kitchens Limited. A fresh start.
2014-Present
Willowbrook Re-born
A new family run business has now been forged. Willowbrook Kitchens Limited is now a brand – a very desirable brand. Top quality products that are built to last. Here’s to the future my friends.
